Who are the children available for adoption?

Can I select my child's gender?

Yes! Families may select gender preference for their child. Due to most families prefering a girl, families open to a boy will usually be matched with a child faster.

Can single applicants adopt?

Yes! Haiti allows for single women to adopt as long as they fit the single parent criterea.

What are the family requirements to adopt from Haiti?

Parents’ Ages

  • 29.5–50 years of age for heterosexual married couples. One parent may be as young as 25 as long as the other is between 29.5 and 50.
  • 34.5-50 years of age for single heterosexual women
Length of Marriage
  • At least 4.5 years for both first and/or second marriages
History of Arrests
  • None allowed
Children in Family Prior to Adoption
  • No more than 5 children. Larger families will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • All 50 states
Psychological Evaluation
  • Required for each parent
  • Minimum annual income of $30,000
  • Two trips. Both parents must travel on first trip, which is two weeks. One parent can travel for second trip, which is 4-5 days.

What does a typical Haiti program adoption timeline look like?

  • Application: 2-3 months
  • Home study: 2-3 months
